My New Favourite

I discovered these fantastic rugs and poufs a while back on the Salvation Jane blog (aka Jane Hall, actress). You can buy them (amongst many other lovely kids things) at Down to the Woods. They're a fun alternative to the ever popular Moroccan Leather Poufs don't you think?

I'm working with a friend on some design concepts for her office/guestroom. The theme is black, white and yellow; what do you think?

Sale: Cloth Fabric Rugs

Cloth Fabric are having a sale on some of their discontinued rugs... take a look here, my favourite is this one - honestly, we need a bigger house!

While you're there, take a look at some of Cloths other gorgeous products. They have some great ideas for revitalizing old furniture with their beautiful fabrics, cushions that make patchwork look chic and lampshades to die for.

BTW: Cloth Fabric also has a fabulous Facebook page which can be found here.

Today's Favourite: Greg Natale

I can't get over how talented interior designer; Greg Natale is... seriously, the guy is a legend! Grab a coffee and get the second one ordered as you won't be able to tear yourself away from his gorgeous creations that are beautifully photographed on his website and while you're swooning, take a look at his Facebook page as well.

Reno: Going, Going, Almost Gone

The beautiful (but too far gone) cottage we bought last month is being demolished this week. Sad to see it go, but excited about the next phase.

Colour: Grey

My favourite colour in interiors at the moment is grey - look how beautiful it looks here; and nearly any colour looks great with it... I'm thinking of painting most of the interiors in our new house this colour... in fact, black, white and grey, what do you think?

Before and After

This was only a small job but a fun job as they were such lovely lovely people. Can you believe after all of this the next door neighbour bought the property... Grrrrr.

Latest Books and Cottage Makeover

As sad as I am to see Borders closing down at our local shopping centre, I was VERY excited to pick up some lovely 'housie' books today at 40% off. The rain has set in, the kids are 'sort of' quiet and
the cuppa is ready... a perfect way to spend the afternoon (ssshhh!).

Cottage Makeover

As many of you know we recently purchased a new project, (keep the wife out of the shops project), which is a cute little house on a beautiful block backing onto a golf course in Sydney's North Shore.

We'll be building a new house, but in the meantime, it's all about the garden and the gorgeous little Potters Cottage down the back. My job for the next couple of weeks is to give it a facelift. I wanted to show you the BEFORE shots, and in a few weeks (hopefully not months) I'll show you the AFTER shots.

Before: Exterior

Before: Blurry Interior

Before: Interior

Before: Interior

Interior: Kids marking their territory (turn a blind eye to the dangerous gardening tools at their fingertips)

Exterior: Colour Test

The colour scheme so far (ignore bricks and roof tile - more on that later):

Exterior Paint: Woodland Grey (Colorbond)

Exterior Door: Bushland (Colorbond)

The Plan;

Exterior Floor: Deck Oil

Exterior Roof: Black

Interior Floor: 6 inch rustic timber faux floorboards (Lino) - from Bunnings.

Ultimately it will be the kids playroom, I'm only fantasizing about it being 'my cottage' (at least for another decade).

Interior Fitout: whatever I can find that won't cost us any money. Which sounds very much like something my husband would say (and does say often)!

The inspiration behind the colour choices was to test the waters before we finalize exterior colours for the house we end up building.
